Darlene Howard Holt Leads NALS

DarleneHowardHoltDarlene Howard Holt – NALS President 2016-2017. With a strong belief in the Japanese proverb “Nanakorobi Ya Oki,” which means, “fall down 7 times, stand up 8” Darlene Howard Holt is leading NALS…the association for legal professionals toward its mission :

Engage legal professionals on their terms;

Inspire legal professionals to want more;

Enhance the careers of legal professionals;

Promote legal professionals and the legal support industry.

Darlene has been a member of the legal community for nine years. Shortly after joining NALS in 2013, she started volunteering her time and assistance in any way she could. Darlene serves as Vice President of her local chapter (NVLSA). She is the Chairperson and/or member on several committees at the state level (VALS). Darlene has also served on the NALS Leadership Team through her volunteerism on the following committees/task forces: New Legal Professionals Task Force, Education Products Development Task Force, and the Grassroots-Level Think Tank. Darlene is a member of the Local Government Paralegal Association.

Darlene has an associate’s degree and she is currently enrolled at Strayer University to obtain her bachelor’s degree. In 2015, Darlene earned the Continuing Legal Education Award from NALS.

Darlene is relentless when it comes to accomplishing her goals. She is from northern Virginia where she lives with her husband and three children. She works as a legal assistant in the City Attorney’s Office in Alexandria, Virginia.

NALS Board of Directors is the governing body of the association. The Board oversees every aspect of the association, always acting in the best interest of the legal services community. One of the main roles of the NALS Board of Directors is to create and maintain the mission and vision of the organization including long-term planning, financial oversight, determining and monitoring programs and services, and advocating for NALS. NALS Board members are all volunteers.
